Bridgeport family circulates petition after house is shot for 3rd time
A Bridgeport family submitted a petition to city officials Saturday to demand greater police protection after bullets ripped through their home, narrowly missing them.
The Brana Family on Dogwood Drive circulated the petition after a bullet came through his home six weeks ago and narrowly missed his parents.
"I felt that I had to do something. I couldn't just sit back idly and continue to let this happen," Richard Brana told News 12.
Brana says the bullet went through several walls before ending up in a front room, leaving holes in the woodwork.
The family says their home has been struck by bullets on three separate occasions. Brana learned that at least four of his neighbor's homes have also been struck by gunfire over the past several months.
The petition has garnered hundreds of signatures so far.
Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez says he will step up vehicle patrols in the neighborhood and possibly add a foot patrol in response to Brana's petition.
"It's my job, as the chief of police…to make sure that all residents are safe," said Chief Perez.
