A Caribbean family from Bridgeport whose homeland was devastated by Tropical Storm Erika is gearing up for a relief effort they are organizing.
The Mann family is getting ready to send supplies to their native island of Dominica, which was hit hard by Tropical Storm Erika late last month.
Officials say at least 20 people were killed and many more were lost when the natural disaster struck the tiny island nation.
The family says it is working with Sen. Richard Blumenthal and the United Nations to get the supplies to their village and neighboring communities.
The family is also holding a flag raising and fundraiser at noon Sunday on McLevy Green to benefit the relief effort.
