Bridgeport officials mapped out key parts of a $10 million federal grant that will be used to shore up flood-prone parts of the city.
News 12 is told that the city will build new flood walls and barriers in the Black Rock neighborhood and the city's South End.
Residents say parts of the Park City often flood following heavy rain due to drainage issues. One such area is Iranistan Avenue, which flooded after heavy rain last week.
Some say part of the problem is garbage clogging the storm drains.
The city won the grant by outlining preemptive ways to make sure what happened during hurricanes Sandy and Irene won't happen again.
The city says that it will use the next nine months or so to design engineering plans for the South End and Black Rock.
Building is slated to start next year and into 2016.
