The city of Bridgeport is pitching in to help dozens of young people find summer jobs.

The city recently allocated $250,000 for the “Mayor's Summer Youth Initiative.”

The money will help community agencies and organizations find jobs for young adults from age 14 to 21 years old.

“It’s critical for them because it gives them skills they otherwise might not gain, an opportunity to get into the workforce,” said Tammy Papa, the City of Bridgeport Director of Youth Services. “Something to put down on a resumes as they look to either higher education or a career.”

This year, 80 to 90 teens are involved in the initiative.
