A Bridgeport man who has prior arrests has been charged in connection to an accident that killed a female pedestrian in Stratford.
Police say Daniel Camacho, 32, is charged with operating under the influence and could face more charges. They say Camacho was traveling west on Lordship Boulevard near I-95 Thursday when he hit and killed a 25-year-old Stratford woman walking home from work. His car then came to rest at the Bridgeport line.
"It's very busy over here," says Luis Murillo, of Stratford. "The highway is very close."
Officers from both Stratford and Bridgeport responded to the scene just after 5:30 p.m. They say another car was also hit at some point.
It's still unclear where exactly on Lordship Boulevard the woman was walking.
Police say there's no crosswalks on that stretch of the road. They are in the process of reconstructing the crash and going through surveillance video of the area.
Authorities have not released the victim's name.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call police.
