A member of Bridgeport's reentry community receiving a prestigious honor this week for giving back to his community.
Virgilio Rosario received AARP's "2023 Andrus Award for Community Service."
AARP says it gives the award to one person from each state every year "to recognize outstanding devotion to advocacy and service," with past recipients including Maya Angelou.
Rosario was singled out as "a dedicated volunteer who advocates tirelessly on behalf of returning citizens and the community at large."
