Mayor Joe Ganim spoke out on Friday about United Illuminating's monopole construction project.
On Thursday, the Bridgeport siting council voted for an alternative plan which sends UI back to the design process – that could take up to a year.
"In some ways we are appreciative that we were heard to a certain extent, but still disappointed and not satisfied on behalf of the Bridgeport residents,” said Ganim. “The residents are still subject to these monstrosities, even though they've been moved."
Ganim also said UI should consider the idea of putting the monopoles underground.
The alternative plan that was approved by the siting council would move the location of the proposed utility poles.
