Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch unveiled his $970 million stimulus package proposal Tuesday and sent it on to state leaders as well as the president-elect.
Finch?s proposal asks for $50 million toward the reconstruction of the Congress Street Bridge, which has been closed for 10 years. Finch also is asking for tens of millions of dollars for the development of Steel Point, which he says will be the pulse of Bridgeport.
?We believe that President[-elect] Obama, with Jim Himes as a Democrat, [is] going to be able to do some great things for the city of Bridgeport,? says Finch. ?This infrastructure could be our ticket to the future.?
