A 21-year-old Bridgeport mother faced a judge Thursday four months after the death of her 3-month-old son.
Ebony Villanueva is charged with first-degree manslaughter for the death of her son, John McCreedy. On December 22, the baby was taken to Bridgeport Hospital and died three days later on Christmas Day. Villanueva?s attorney says the baby was diagnosed with spinal meningitis and that is what caused his death.
Police say evidence of abuse was visible on the child. Investigators also say Villanueva is not the only person who will be brought to justice in the case.
?The case is open. [There are] other individuals we are looking at,? Bridgeport Police Lt. James Viadero says. ?It?s possible there will be further arrests.?
Villanueva is being held on $250,000 bond. In court, her attorney pleaded for a reasonable bail.
