A Bridgeport man wanted by police in connection to the fatal shooting of his girlfriend has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a standoff with law enforcement officials in Tennessee, police say.
Police say Glenn Pettway, 28, shot Mita Dumeng, 30, several times in her home on Knoll Place in Bridgeport Saturday morning before taking off.
Officials in Jackson, Tennessee, say they were notified by Bridgeport police on a tip that Pettway was hiding out in a nearby home.
The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force acted on the tip, relaying information to Tennessee law enforcement.
They say just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, law enforcement confirmed Pettway was inside a residence armed with a handgun.
After a nearly 24-hour standoff with police, officials say law enforcement officers entered the home and found Pettway dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Bridgeport Police Tips Line at 203-576-TIPS (8471) or contact BPD Homicide Detective Tom Harper at 203-581-5239
