A Bridgeport nonprofit that focuses on affordable housing, credit repair and home ownership is promoting its annual benefit this week.
Building Neighborhoods Together says the event will strengthen the local economy.
Organizers say money raised will support the nonprofit's mission of providing better housing and helping people manage their money wisely.
"I think the work that we do is terrific. We convert people who are renting into homeowners," says the nonprofit's Charlie Griggs.
"And that's what's so imperative about the work we do in the community, in how we work with folks out there to really meet them where they're at," adds Doris LaTorre, CEO of Building Neighborhoods Together.
Ken Weinstein of Newtown Savings Bank and Carol Heller of Bank of America will be among who will be honored at the event.
The event will take place at The Great River Golf Club in Milford on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
