Bridgeport officials are considering a new round of city employee layoffs due to a growing budget deficit.
The layoffs could come from nearly anywhere, including police and fire departments. A deficit reportedly in excess of $19 million is behind the potential cuts.
Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch was unavailable for comment. However, his spokesperson says while there are no layoffs to report yet, the city will soon enter negotiations with the unions.
