Bridgeport police are investigating Park Cemetery as it continues to probe its management following scathing allegations.
Family members say they showed up to protest the recent move of headstones by cemetery managers Wednesday morning, but that the gates were locked and only police investigators were allowed on the property.
The families tell News 12 they found videos circulating on social media that show cemetery workers moving headstones this week.
The families say they are sensitive about that practice because former cemetery manager Dale LaPrade was arrested, then recently rearrested, amid allegations bodies went missing and bones ended up in random locations to create more space so she could sell additional plots; all part of an alleged scheme to profit from the enterprise.
Christina Diaz says she's having her father-in-law moved to a different cemetery because of all the chaos.
An attorney appointed by the court to oversee the management of Park Cemetery says the moving of headstones was part of routine cemetery operations and had nothing to do with the ongoing police investigation.
Police did not comment on their investigation.
Police say LaPrade withdrew more than $500,000 from cemetery accounts over a two-year period and used part of the money for personal expenses.
She's facing multiple felony charges.
