Bridgeport police today said they have leads and hope to make an arrest soon after stray gunfire hit a 3-year-old Bridgeport girl during a shootout between rival gangs.
Police say the young girl was on a sidewalk with her mother when she was hit by a bullet from a passing car at about 5:30 p.m. yesterday on Maplewood Avenue and Poplar Street.
They say another person was shot in the hand.
Police say it is possible the shooting was drug-related because they found drugs at the scene.
Family members say the young girl is recovering at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
