Bridgeport police say that members of their fugitive task force teamed up with officers from the Los Angeles Police Department this morning to arrest 46-year-old Samuel Calvario, of Los Angeles, who they say committed a murder back in 2000.
They say Calvario had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend and shot a man after he tried to intervene.
Police say he fled to Bridgeport shortly after, where he lived on Poplar Street for years under an alias.
Calvario recently filed a stolen vehicle report using the alias, which he did not realize the LAPD was aware of.
The alias popped up on law enforcement records, and the LAPD came to investigate and make the arrest.
Authorities say it is alarming that Calvario, who the LAPD listed as armed and dangerous, was living under the radar in Bridgeport for so long.
Police say Calvario will be arraigned in Bridgeport Friday on charges of being a fugitive from justice, then he will be extradited to Los Angeles to face murder and kidnapping charges.
