Police in Bridgeport have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident from earlier this week.

Police say 60-year-old Gerald Hillaire was struck and killed Tuesday evening as he was walking home near Fairfield Avenue and State Street. He was visiting a friend on Monroe Street when, according to police, a dark-colored Cadillac slammed into him and fled the scene. Family and friends have set up a makeshift memorial at the scene, placing flowers, balloons and a passport picture on the sidewalk.
