Bridgeport police got into the holiday spirit Wednesday during routine traffic stops in the city.
Instead of handing out tickets, the officers were handing out turkeys.
"It's a way of giving back, reaching out to the community and making sure everyone has a meal for thanksgiving," says Bridgeport Police Capt. Roderick Porter.
The department says they hope the giveaways will strengthen the bonds in the community.
Bridgeport's Vazzy's Brick Oven Restaurant and AMR ambulance service donated the turkeys.
Police say they also made turkey deliveries to homes in the city.
