Bridgeport police raided and shut down several massage parlors Wednesday because they were not licensed and were apparently being used as houses of prostitution.
Local authorities took over 10 buildings with the help of state police and the city's health department. They say the city recently passed a new ordinance allowing police to regulate the parlors and that, by law, the businesses and their masseuses are required to be properly credentialed.
Police say they will continue to monitor the parlors to ensure they remain closed unless correctly licenced.
