A charity effort was held in Bridgeport Saturday in memory of a six-year-old girl who was hit and killed by a car in 2015.
The scholarship fundraiser at Kolbe Cathedral High School is a tribute to Leah Rondon. Her Father, Henry Rondon, was the principal at that school for many years.
"Leah's Birthday Bash" celebrated the memory of a child who was said "to light up every room she entered with her smile".
"We're just really grateful that people haven't forgotten that it just wasn't a one-year deal and we're moving on. We're going to continue with this legacy hopefully for many, many years," Rondon said.
The surviving family said by tying their daughter's legacy to the future, the annual charity effort helps to free them from the ties of the past.
