Bridgeport’s school superintendent announced a pause to school closures on Monday.
The superintendent says they are close to selecting a consulting firm to help with the process and master plan.
“We have learned that it may take many months to develop the facilities master plan - as a result, we will pause our closure timeline until the plan is complete,” said Superintendent Dr. Carmela Levy-David.
Levy-David stated that none of the Bridgeport schools included in the plan will be closed before the 2025 school year.
The superintendent reported earlier this month that six schools would be closing in a phasing process over several years.
Reasons include ADA noncompliance and a lack of fire sprinklers, among other issues.
