Officials at Thomas Hooker School in Bridgeport say a music teacher who was arrested for allegedly assaulting a student has been suspended while the matter is investigated.
Police say they arrested Lydia Struble, 51, after the parents of a 13-year-old girl, who has autism, complained last week.
They say Struble grabbed the girl's left shoulder and forced her into a chair when the girl got out of her seat. The alleged incident left the child with bruises on her shoulders and wrist.
The girl's mother says that when she arrived at the school, her daughter was shaking and told her what happened.
Struble was charged with third-degree assault. Court records show that she was released on a promise to appear in court later this month.
Police say they will team up with at least one other agency before their investigation is complete.
