Bridgeport has finally demolished a fire-damaged house on Stillman Street as part of a wider plan to rid the city of run-down buildings.
Neighbors have been clamoring for the demolition of the Stillman Street home for the two years since the fire, calling the site an eyesore and a safety hazard.
Bridgeport will tear down a total of six buildings. Demolition on four homes will take place in the coming weeks. The city is awaiting final approval on the sixth house. Habitat for Humanity is hoping to acquire the properties.
