A Bridgeport woman whose house burned down more than a decade ago is paying it forward this holiday season with a giveaway for the community that helped her rebuild.
“God has really blessed me since I've been here,” said Hollister Avenue resident Gloria Brown.
Over a decade ago, the community came to her aid and helped rebuild her home when it burned down. Now she hopes the giveaway will show her gratitude.
"The more you give, not necessarily you're going to receive all the time, but when you give from your heart then God will return and bless you. It may not be in money, it may not be in clothing; but it could be in health,” she said.
Brown says ensuring the health and the happiness of the community she serves is the main objective of the holiday giveaway.
"It's cold out here today so we're trying to reward the community and help out the community by giving them something that's going to keep them warm,” she said. “When I see somebody smiling or somebody crying, that makes me feel good that I reached somebody.”
