Bridgeport woman says she's unable to find help after fire left her homeless
A Bridgeport woman is asking for the public's help two weeks after a fire destroyed her apartment and left her homeless.
Agueda Ramirez, 47, says she lost everything when fire destroyed her apartment in the Hollow section of Bridgeport.
She says the Red Cross put her up in a motel for a couple of days, but that's where the help ended.
Ever since then, Ramirez says she has been living on the streets, trying to get by one day at a time and stay safe and healthy during the pandemic.
She says one door after another has been closed in her face and hasn’t been able to find any help.
"It don't make no sense. Being homeless is the bad thing. No take shower, no eat," Ramirez says. "No matter who I am, no matter how I look, I am a human being! So where is the point? Why I can't get any help?"
Ramirez says she is at the end of her rope and cannot understand why assistance for a fire victim is so limited.
