A Bridgeport woman was honored in a ceremony for helping people in need Saturday.

Dulce Nieves is the Fairfield County Coordinator for a national nonprofit group that advocates for abused and neglected children.

She says she takes her work home with her because serving the public isn't a nine-to-five job.

Nieves says she has 22 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren but still finds time to volunteer.

She was recently honored by the mayor and city council for her work in the community.
