Some young adults in Bridgeport are planning an anti-violence rally next week in Seaside Park to bring awareness to the death of an unarmed black Florida teen who was fatally shot last month by a neighborhood watch volunteer.
George Zimmerman, the man who police say shot Trayvon Martin, has not been arrested.
The incident has sparked a national controversy and President Obama has reached out to the family of Trayvon Martin.
While Zimmerman says he was acting in self-defense, the death has sparked a nationwide outcry. Many are calling it a senseless killing.
Co-organizers of the rally Terrell Brown and Kirk Wesley, of Bridgeport, say they were motivated to take action after the fatal shooting of the 17-year-old.
Brown and Wesley say they hope take to the streets at 4 p.m. and hold the rally at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. They plan to march to the Housatonic Community College.
