Bridgeport’s mayoral candidates shared the stage this morning, singing in a toy drive.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim and candidate John Gomes performed Sonny and Cher’s “I got you Babe.”
"It's a fun thing, and sometimes you've got to let your inhibitions aside and just enjoy the moment," says Ganim.
"At first you're like, 'Huh?' But then, it's about the holiday season. It's about bringing a smile to a child. It's about uniting," says Gomes.
It’s all a part of WPLR’s massive toy drive. There are thousands of toys ranging from bicycles to baseball gloves.
The political rivals agreed to put their differences aside for the kids.
"It's very important that children are the recipients of all the efforts that are made today," says Ganim.
After Ganim won the Democratic primary, a judge tossed out that election, citing clear evidence of ballot stuffing and fraud.
Ganim won the general election in November, but there will be another Democratic primary on Jan. 23
