The Stamford community came together in a unique way Friday night at Scalzi Park in what the city called a Faith and Blue Unity Walk. Stamford police officers say they're working to bridge the gap between themselves and the community.
Community outreach police officers are aiming to bring everyone together from all backgrounds to create a strong connection.
Part of the program included a unity walk around the park, where residents were accompanied by police officers.
The officers who helped organize the walk say they leaned on their own experiences from their youth – remembering the connections and friendships made between the community and police.
"We're not just people in uniform. We're people and we like to integrate and communicate and break down barriers," said Adriana Molina.
