The high school football campaign kicked off Friday night for dozens of area teams after a long offseason.

News 12 Connecticut's Justin DeVellis was on the sidelines for the action.

Falcons senior captain Liam Bond ripped a 63-yard touchdown run off a first quarter screen pass.

No. 10 Staples improved to 1-0 on the season with a 17-3 win over Glastonbury.

It was first-year head coach Matty Jacowleff's first win at the helm.

Jonathan Law defeated Lyman Hall on the road 48-29, and No. 5 Darien crushed Naugatuck 35-0.
