A Brookfield couple says they think it could be weeks before they get their lives back together following Tuesday's powerful storm.

Clive and Michelle Milton's home on Sunset Hill Road is surrounded by massive trees that came down during the storm, moving large amounts of earth in the process.

Clive Milton was home when most of the damage happened and says it was the worst seven minutes of his life.

"All I heard was trees crashing and the howl of the storm," he says.

The couple says their road is barely passable and heavy equipment is needed to cut trees. They say they have tried to contact town and state officials for help but have heard nothing.

"I emailed the governor and told him, and I've had absolutely no response from the state," Clive Milton says. "We don't know if FEMA's involved."

The Miltons say they're unsure how long it's going to take for things to return to normal, but Clive Milton says he thinks it might be a month.

Brookfield says it is considering a townwide tree removal and is applying for federal funds through FEMA.
