A brush fire in Westport burned through a quarter acre before firefighters could stop it from reaching homes.
The fire started around 1:30 p.m. off of Bayberry Lane yesterday. No one was hurt.
Firefighters are warning everyone around southwestern Connecticut to be cautious until we get more rain.
They say there should be no outside burning at this time.
Officials also warn smokers to be extremely careful when smoking cigarettes outside.
