Police in Bridgeport say a burglar stole thousands of dollars in merchandise from a cellphone store on Main Street.
The wireless store owner says the culprit broke through the front door and climbed over the security fence with only a few inches of clearance. He says they made off with at least 20 phones.
Shop owners in the area say they want nightly police patrols and extra streetlights installed following the latest robbery.
The Western Union, which is also on Main Street, was broken into a week ago when thieves allegedly cut a hole into the building from the restaurant next door. Police say the suspects drilled in the wrong location, entering the back room instead of the safe room. They left with nothing.
A total of four shops have reportedly been burglarized over the past month.
