Cabbies say new restrictions at the South Norwalk train station have been bad for business.

Cabs are now allowed to pick up passengers from only the westbound side of the station. A new position was also established to control the flow of passengers.

Drivers say a majority of the station's riders exit on the eastbound side, where they can no longer pick up patrons from. Another complaint is the limited parking on the westbound side, which cabbies say forces them to keep their cars running and burn gas.

Norwalk Mayor Dick Moccia says the restrictions were introduced for safety concerns and to prevent cab drivers from fighting over customers. Despite the negative feedback, he supports the changes.

"The city's not there to provide a free dispatch center on city land," says Moccia. "It wasn't working. This is working."
