Police say a car fell down a large embankment and landed in a stream on Poverty Hollow Road in Redding this morning.

They say the driver lost control around midnight and went through the barrier.

Crews on the scene say the car was so far down the embankment they had to bring in a special crane to get it out. They say two workers first had to climb down and strap down the vehicle before they could get it out.

They say it took several hours for crews to remove the car from the stream.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
