A car slammed into Bridgeport's Funchal Americana eatery Thursday evening following a two-car crash.
Firefighters responded to reports of a crash at the corner of Main Street and Fairfield Avenue around 8:40 p.m. At least two people were injured, but nobody sustained injuries that were considered life-threatening.
The restaurant was not open at the time. The owner was contacted by police and says he found the place a total mess.
"When I came here it was a disaster," says Valerio Fernandes. "We couldn't walk in the store."
A few windows had to be boarded up as a result of the crash. The car wasn't able to shatter the glass entirely thanks to a pillar. The owner is still waiting to learn what the cost of repairs will be, but the restaurant was open Friday.
