The owners of Lamar Jewelry in Bay Ridge say thieves broke the glass windows of their store and attempted to steal jewelry from the window.

Police say three suspects may have been involved in the suspected damage.

"They broke through all three layers but they weren't able to get in. If they had, they could have gotten all $200,000 in our merchandise," said store owner Fawzi Ayub's son, Mark.

The store owners were cleaning up the store on Saturday evening. They told News 12 the safety glass was just only installed one week prior.

The owners also said a repair bill could be upward of $15,000.

"It's a big hit, but what can you do? I'm glad no one was hurt," Ayub said.

The attempted break echoes a similar incident just up the street in Bay Ridge in December of 2024.

"It just feels like the area is vulnerable. They are going to keep hitting places until they succeed," Ayub said.
