A new law will kick in starting next year in Connecticut requiring everyone 18 and older to get a 3-month learner's permit from the state before taking their road test.

The current learner's permit rules only apply to 16 and 17-year-olds.

People 18 and over are currently not required to go through any training before taking a road test.
