The Stamford woman who was mauled by a pet chimpanzee made a rare public appearance in Hartford today.
Charla Nash asked the claims commissioner for permission to sue the state for $150 million in damages.
Her lawyer says the state failed to remove the chimp from the Stamford home where she was attacked in 2009.
Nash also claims that Gov. Dannel Malloy, who was mayor of Stamford at the time, knew the animal was dangerous.
Her lawyers claim Malloy warned Sandra Herold to lock her chimp up after it got loose in downtown Stamford years prior to the attack.
