A Cheshire woman pleaded guilty to fraud and tax offenses stemming from a near $1 million embezzlement scheme.
Court documents show Erin Sullivan, 53, worked as a manager at a family-owned construction business. While working there, she made false entries into their payroll and accounting system to generate hundreds of fraudulent checks to herself after which she changed the entry name in the system to appear as a different payee to cover her tracks.
In total, Sullivan embezzled a total of $955,000. She also failed to pay $255,000 in federal taxes on her embezzled income between 2016 and 2021.
Sullivan pleaded guilty to wire fraud and tax evasion. She was released on a $100,000 bond pending sentencing, which is not scheduled.
