Child care workers to soon receive wage support payments

Connecticut child care workers will soon be receiving their wage support payments from the state.
Gov. Ned Lamont joined the commissioner of the Office of Early Childhood, Beth Bye, and others in a virtual meeting to discuss the program.
Full-time employees will receive payments of $1,000 and part-timers will receive $400.
The program was created as part of the state budget that was signed into law earlier this year.
The governor says hopefully this will be an incentive for people seeking employment in child care.
"I think it says something about the state of Connecticut. I think it's a place where people respect our values respect the fact that we prioritize the kids and our commitment to daycare and childcare is one way to say that," said Lamont.
