A major arctic outbreak is on the way and will bring record cold temperatures Friday morning, meanwhile we're keeping a close eye on a coastal storm Friday night which is expected to miss Connecticut, but could bring a dusting of snow overnight Friday into Saturday morning.
Here's everything you need to know about the weather over the next few days:
Today: Chilly Sunshine - Temperatures are in the upper 30s with mainly sunny skies. It will feel like the upper 20s with winds occasionally gusting to 20 mph.
Tonight: Watch for Ice - Areas with snow cover in Nothern Fairfield, Northern New Haven, and Litchfield counties could see black ice tonight on untreated roads and sidewalks. Keep in mind overpasses will freeze before main roadways.
Thursday: Sun then clouds - Temperatures are near 40 degrees in the afternoon with increasing cloud cover. A few snow flurries are possible late afternoon in Litchfield county.
Friday: Record Cold - Temperatures are in the teens on Friday morning. The record for Bridgeport is 17F for December 5, set in 1989. Records go back to 1948. Afternoon high temperatures will remain below freezing despite mostly sunny skies.
The Weekend: Early Saturday Snow shower, otherwise quiet
A snow shower is possible Saturday morning, otherwise there's a mix of sun and clouds with average temperatures. Temperatures will drop again next weekend.
