In honor of its 275th anniversary, Christ Church Greenwich preserved their history on Sunday by burying a time capsule.
The box contains artwork, a scrapbook, a Taylor Swift cd, letters, a prayer book and photographs.
The plan is to dig it up in 25 years, which will be just in time for the church’s 300th anniversary.
Staff said they hope the capsule will give people in the future a better understanding of the church and what life was like in Greenwich.
“…People tend to find history…a little boring sometimes. I think when people open this 25 years from now…people [will] be really, really intrigued,” said Dominic Casserley, senior warden of Christ Church Greenwich. “It's a gift from this generation into the next.”
When the time capsule is opened, organizers said they hope that it resonates with parishioners and surprises people by its contents.
