The below-freezing temperatures have prompted Bronx and city officials to call in the help of the American Red Cross. The relief organization has set up two warming centers in the borough. They are located at the Melrose House on 156th Street and at Fort Independence on Bailey Avenue. The centers are open 24 hours a day.
