State and local police are aggressively searching for drivers who fail to buckle up part of the Click It or Ticket campaign.
Police say they will ticket every driver who is not wearing a seat belt instead of issuing a verbal warning. According to police, officers will also look for people talking on their hand-held cell phones as they drive.Trooper Greg Guerra says many of the drivers caught offered excuses as to why they didn?t buckle up. Nevertheless, they got the ticket.
Within the first three hours of the initiative, police ticketed 58 drivers at the Greenwich-Stamford checkpoint. They will have to pay a $100 fine for the offense.
