Coastal communities in CT brace for flooding
While Hurricane Bill continues to drift off the Atlantic coast, officials in southwestern Connecticut warn residents to be prepared for possible coastal flooding.
First Selectman Ken Flatto says a storm moving at a rate of 130 mph could create a tidal surge of 10-15 feet that may pose a risk to flood beach communities in Fairfield.
On Thursday, Fairfield firefighters inspected their equipment, including a Zodiac boat, to ensure that they are ready in the event of street flooding.
Fairfield Police Chief Dave Peck urges residents to be prepared and not to resist evacuation orders, if such may be issued.
