Connecticut farmers remain optimistic about fruit crops, despite a cold snap that is threatening to cause a shortage.

Easton farmer Irv Silverman says trees that blossom in early spring are at risk for freezing over and not producing fruit during a dramatic temperature drop. Farmers in the South are currently facing that problem. Silverman warns that many shoppers would see a jump in price if peach and other fruit crops freeze in that region.

Farmers say since Northeast crops are just beginning to bud, they will survive a dip in the mercury.
