A college math lecturer from Monroe is celebrating a $100,000 win after buying a Powerball ticket to teach his students.
Nicholas Kapoor teaches at Fairfield University.
He says he bought the ticket to use as a prop to teach students about probability and statistics back in October.
He ended up matching four numbers, plus the Powerball, and then doubled his prize by playing the "Power Play" option.
Kapoor says it's an ironic surprise, especially after telling his students how low their chances of winning are.
