Members of the Bridgeport community are in mourning as police continue to search for the gunmen who killed a beloved store owner Saturday.
Police say two men robbed Sapiaos Grocery Store on Lexington Avenue and then shot and killed owner Jose Salgado, 58.
Surveillance video shows the two gunmen running out of the store and into a green Ford Focus before driving off.
Officials say Salgado, who owned the store for 25 years, was shot with his wife standing beside him.
Salgado's niece, Fernanda Guerrera, says her uncle was a very generous man who would leave his store to help feed people in the community.
Police held a news conference Monday and said they have not yet identified the suspects. Officers say they are now working with the FBI and local dealers to find the owner of the car.
A wake for Salgado will be held Wednesday night at Abriola Funeral Home in Trumbull. His funeral service will be held Thursday morning at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Bridgeport.
Bridgeport police are asking anyone with information about the suspects to call them at 203-581-5100.
