A Bridgeport woman whose house was destroyed by fire earlier this month moved into her new home on Sunday, thanks to help from the community.
Yolanda Santiago's Alanson Road home burned down after a gas explosion.
Santiago said she and her children lost virtually everything in the fire.
When her help from the Red Cross ran out, Santiago turned to Mayor-Elect Joe Ganim and City Councilwoman Eneida Martinez, who contacted News 12 Connecticut.
News 12 put them in touch with the nonprofit group Needs Clearing House, which got Santiago her new apartment.
"It's great being here right now knowing that for Thanksgiving, Christmas, we have a home to stay in," Santiago said.
