A state lawmaker from Norwalk who will be attending the Democratic National Convention says he's excited about supporting Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
State Rep. Kadeem Roberts says he was a big supporter of President Joe Biden, but he's just as eager to support Harris, now that Biden has dropped out of the 2024 race for the White House.
"I attended a historically Black university; Kamala did, as well. She's a clear advocate for healthcare and most importantly she's a clear advocate for civil rights," Roberts said.
Roberts says churches need to come together and back Harris, just as they did for Obama.
Former State Rep. Charlie Stallworth, pastor of East End Baptist Tabernacle, says a general sense of excitement about Harris is already building within churches, and he believes it'll spread from the sanctuary to the voting booth.
"I think I was going to the polls before to vote for Biden because I had to -- but I think now I'll go because I want to," Stallworth said.
